Sometimes a TC Line call really cracks me up. Goose Poop Park did just that.

This subject freaks me out a bit, so what do I do, make a cartoon of it of course. I talked to some bird lovers who know more than I do about birds, they thought that the birds are eating too many fermented berries. So basically they are drinking them selves to death. I don't know if I believe that, but it kinda makes sense. The other thing I thought about is this probably happens all the time, we just don't hear about it. Who knows, but to me it is still a bit creepy.

This cartoon is about renaming Union Reservoir, I guess it has been called that since 1906 or so. (I just heard that, I don't know for sure) Any way, I posted two versions, the one that published, and my original. Note the change of the hand gesture of the guy in yellow. To me, the two fingers up in the air means "rock on" but to others it means the devil or showing horns. If that is the case, I am sure that nobody attending Heaven Fest would do that. Anyway I had to change it.

Last week I went to the Demolition Derby at the Boulder County Fair. For the past 3-4 years, it has become something I really look forward to. Cool older cars crashing, what's not to love? This year, as I am trying to figure out what's going on, a lady behind me asked me questions about the rules and such, or why 3 cars got into the arena, then drove out. We both struggled to understand the announcer, but could not. After that, I started paying close attention to what he was saying. I came away with...who knows? If the noise of the airport bothers you so much, move. I am sure there are a handful of people who built their farms before the airport was there, I can see why they might be upset, but even they need to move on and get over it. It's been a long enough time all ready. Longmont needs an airport, the bigger the better. It's only good for the community. I know people who move close to airports just so they can see and hear them. They love planes that much. It's kind of like living next to a lake and complaining about the mosquitos. What did you expect? The people or companies we really need to be angry at are the makers of the "loud" airplanes. If enough people complained to them 50 years ago, just think how much more quiet the plans of today would be. I totally can for see quite planes in the future. That's were the attention need to be. Not the airport.

I am all for helping animals, but do we really need to save Mexico's dogs to. Don't we have enough dogs here in the U.S.? I guess you could argue that it does not matter, as long as we try. I just think we need to start local, then state wide, then nationally, then maybe the world.
Any way, it made me wonder about Mexican dogs and whether or not they can understand English. When they bark do they say "ladrido"?

Firearms In City Buildings

I will defend our right to carry fire arms. However, I do think there are places that guns should not be allowed. The obvious, schools, day cares, courthouses, heck even the DMV and Post office. City workers do have to deal with a lot of crazies as it is. Guns + crazies is not a good combination. I can see why they don't want firearms in their work place. In this case, I think it is a personal vendetta against one man who chooses to carry a gun to city council meeting. Let's not overreact. I just thought it would be funny to ask, what if Rambo were to attend a city council meeting. Would he be allowed in?

It could happen... right. I, for the most part am a pretty safe driver, I won't say I have not got any tickets, but I am a laid back type of driver. I don't like the idea of not being able to discuss your ticket or traffic violation with an officer before he/she gives it to you. The camera does not tell the whole story. Running a late yellow early red light could have prevented an accident in some situations. Even speeding can get you out of a jam some times. A live cop could understand the particular situation, where as a camera just shows the offense. I for one am not for the cameras. Thanks for reading.

When I was in school, it was called "Deep Relaxation" The teachers had us come in from recess and lay down with the lights out for 15-20 minutes, taking deep breaths and going to a "happy place". It took me a long time to figure out how to go about doing the gag. I knew there was one there, but I did not see it for about a week. Talking to co-workers and friends helps me see things from a different perspective. Finally, this came to me. Before that, I had pine beetles wearing earmuffs and turning up their radio louder to overpower the fake noise. The bottom line for me is... how it the world did scientist think of sound, then how did they think of the bugs own sound. That is so cool, yet so random to me.

I see both sides to the prairie dog situation. They needed to be removed from the Vance Brand Airport or they would loose major money. The way the city went about it is pretty good. Sure they could have had a prairie dog "pop" off and had a contest for the person who shot the most. This would have upset the pro prairie dog crowd, who want to save them and let them free, no matter what the cost. Could the city have done this cheaper? Sure, but I feel they did a good job of compromising a sensitive matter. Now the prairie dogs are removed, dead yes, but as humanly as possible and they will be used to help feed birds of prey in captivity. (Lets face it, that's part of what prairie dogs are used for in the wild anyway.) I think the city nailed it. Good job guys.

Composting - A Good Way to Attract Raccoons!

I acually think composting is a good idea, but... are we capable of changing the way we throw away trash? Also, is it "fair" that the trash company charge us more to collect the compost, then sell "our" compost back to us? A great business plan for them. Shouldn't we get the compost for free? These are the thoughts of a cartoonist. Thanks for reading.

Heaven Fest & Kinetics Invade Wildlife Habitat.

Will thousands of people at the Union Reservoir wild life reserve for Heaven Fest and Kinetics wreck the habitat for birds and other animals. Well, it won't help them that's for sure. I think it would be funny if nature could fight back a little. Remember, to birds we are all moving targets. Don't look up, you might get some in your eye.

When I read the front page of the Times-Call, I thought of smoking out in front of a store, NOT warming up your car. This seems like a frivolous law. Why not stop the car thieves, not the car owners.

Weird, Solar Power Rebates Not Good?

I don't really understand how solar power rebates are a bad thing. Get more solar power out there. That can only be good right? Not when it only benefits the few who have the money to spend on solar power. I know I don't.
